No June 6 Rapture

This Just In:

Steve Fletcher has been proven to be a fraud as he joins the ranks of those with failed rapture predictions. Still no word from the “prophet” himself.

That is all!

June 6 Raputre Update

It’s just after 4 pm PST in Seattle, and this is your rapture update.

It is just after midnight on June 7th in Spain, France, and the United Kingdom. Guess what, no sign of the rapture. No comment yet from the failed prophet himself, Steve Fletcher. I’ll do one more update tomorrow morning, but I’m calling this one busted. Guess his “Bible lock” isn’t as accurate as he thought…

What is Going On?

I think this is a valid question to ask ourselves. I didn’t realize there was an earthquake season.

Let’s take a look at mean:

  • Haiti (7.0),
  • Chile (8.8),
  • Taiwan (6.4),
  • Okinawa (7.0),
  • and now Turkey (5.9-6.0).

Are we living in the end time? This is a question that I see a lot on blogs of the Evangelical persuasion.

And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. (Matthew 24:4-8)

However, as my Lutheran Study Bible points out in the notes for vs. 6-7,

Because geopolitical conflicts and natural disasters are common, they cannot be used to determine the date of the end of the world. The frequency of such signs reminds us that we always need to be prepared for Jesus’ return.

I’ve also seen it said that God is trying to get our attention with these earthquakes. That depends on what you mean by “get our attention.”

  • License Plate Holders in SC

Living in the heart of the Bible belt (aka Columbia, SC) I have been desensitized to the religious paraphernalia on peoples cars.  There are fishes and stickers all over people’s cars identifying them as Christian and as being a specific denomination.  For the most part, I really don’t pay attention to it, but today, a license plate holder caught my attention.

Warning-In case of the Rapture, this vehicle will be unmanned.

I had two initial thought.  1) Stop laughing for fear of either peeing myself or hitting the car and 2) What makes them so sure they will be saved?

In case you haven’t figured it out, I don’t buy into this rapture business.  I think it’s bad theology and even worse fiction.  Yes, I believe in the Second Coming, but I don’t believe that there will be a rapture where all the “good Christians” are saved from the tribulation.  I’m a-millennial, which means I believe that when Christ comes again, there will be judgment over all of humanity.
