Beginning today, June 17th, I will no longer be updating this blog. The domain will remain in effect until next January, when it will expire.
With my busy schedule, I just do not have the time anymore to run my own blog. I will continue blogging as a contributor over at Unsettled Christianity. I will continue to blog on theology (especially bad theology) and culture over there.
As I stated yesterday, one of the changes that I had planned for the blog was to change the domain name. Well, that change will be happening shortly. The new domain for the blog will be http://theonerd.com. The changes should take effect in the near future. Please update your RSS feeds.
I know that I said this announcement would come in January, but something tells me the time is right. I’ve decided to change the name of the blog from Simul Iustus et Peccator to TheoNerd. The focus of the blog will change to the broader topics of theology and ethics. The URL will stay as it is until January. I’ll look into changing it then.
I will still be posting on science fiction/fantasy/horror over at Theodyssey. I will also be looking for contributors. If you are interested, send me a message on Twitter!
Lately, I’ve been given some thought about blogging. Pretty much why I’ve been so quiet here the past month or so. I’m not the same blogger that I was three years ago when I started blogging and the reason I started blogging is no longer an area of passion.
So, there’s going to be a few changes. The most immediate change will be that my posts on Sci Fi/Fantasy/Horror will now be done at my new blog Theodyssey. The blog is a spinoff of my Facebook group of the same name. Over the next few months, I will be working on getting that built up.
The other big change will happen in January. But, I think I will keep that one a secret for now!
Any remaining book reviews that need to be done will be done here.
Over the course of my time blogging, I have reexamined why I blog. Lately, I have been doing a lot of soul searching and have decided it’s time to mix things up again. When I started blogging, social ministry was a passion of mine. While I’m still interested in social ministry, it’s not what I would call a “passion.” Therefore, I’m changing the focus of the blog. My new focus will be Church and Culture. It will encompass a lot of what I have blogged about before, but I think will play into my current interests.
Here’s a list of my goals for this coming year:
- Lose 25 pounds!
- Complete my 2012 Reading Challenge. Last year I came close to reading 52 books in a year. I ended up reading 48…4 short of my goal.
- Write more. Since I started my new job, I’ve been pretty lax about blogging. So, I want to write more, both here and at Unsettled Christianity. I also hope to be more active on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
- My big project for the year is the blog series around my re-watch of Battlestar Galactica. I plan on exploring the religious themes that appear throughout the series.
Last year was kind of a mild year for me. I plan on joining Rod and Joel in misbehaving in 2012.
2012 is going to be a great year!
I guess I’ll make this blogging official, I got a job! Monday is my first day of training. Since training in from 8-5, I’m not sure how much time I will have to blog. So, I’m going to go on a little hiatus while I’m in training. I have a few left to review, and do plan to honor my commitment to review them. Unless something major happens, just count on the reviews being the only posts during the next few weeks. I may find that I have plenty of time after I get into training, but who knows. I’ll also need to reevaluate things again once I get my work assignments. Shifts can be anywhere from 5am-10pm.
This will also give me a change to unwind and de-stress. Been under a lot of pressure lately and feel that this pressure has been affecting my blogging in a negative way.
