For the next eleven (or so) days, we’ll be working our way through the writings of Ignatius.
Ignatius (ca 50-117) was the third bishop of Antioch and is considered one of the Apostolic Fathers. He converted to Christianity at a young age and was a student of St. John the Apostle.
On the way to his martyrdom in Rome, Ignatius wrote a several of letters on ecclesiology, the sacraments, and the role of the bishops.
Ignatius is commemorated in the Lutheran Church on October 17.
