More Nonsense by John Crowder

When discussing the blueprints of the Menorah in Exodus 25 in his book, Seven Spirits Burning, John Crowder comes to this revelation:

When we count up all of the various almod parts on the lampstand – flowers, buds, blossoms, etc. – we find a total of sixty-six parts.  Did you know that there are sixty-six books in your Bible?  This is an ancient confirmation of the canon of scripture. (44)

I’m sure Catholics and Orthodox all over the globe would disagree with that statement.

And then there’s this in his discussion on the Indwelling Spirit:

Filled, or male’ in Hebrew, is used to describe only three Old Covenant people who were “filled with Holy Spirit.”  One is the case of Joshua son of Nun (a pre-figure type of Christ, whose very name Yeshua speaks for itself). (59, emphasis mine)

So because they had the same Hebrew name, one points to the other?  Really?!

And people take this guy seriously?

  1. Let me start this by saying John Crowder is a complete ass-hat. He is so ridiculous that it is at times completely horrifying/entertaining to watch him ‘minister’.

I never ever thought that he would make a some sort of point that would approach logic, but in his second quote he actually does have a point (though he does remind us just how stupid his typology is in the first one!). In the Hebrew Jesus-Joshua may have had a slight variant, but in the LXX (the Bible of the early church) Jesus and Joshua are spelled the same: Ἰησοῦς.

This became an important typology for the early church for just as the first Ἰησοῦς replaced Moses, the second Ἰησοῦς replaced/fulfilled the Mosaic Law.

    John Crowder is still contemptible!

      Ok, point taken.
