Political Lie of the Year

PolitiFact has released the 2010 Lie of the Year.  The Lie of the Year:

PolitiFact editors and reporters have chosen “government takeover of health care” as the 2010 Lie of the Year. Uttered by dozens of politicians and pundits, it played an important role in shaping public opinion about the health care plan and was a significant factor in the Democrats’ shellacking in the November elections.

  1. Where to start? Democrats only said that this was a path to a single payer type program which means run by the government. Congressman Dingell said this was about control. Senator Baucus said this was about the redistribution of wealth. For either of those things to occur it means the government must take over the nation’s health care system. I do not doubt for a moment that is what they want. I think people understood this and that is why the Democrats suffered at the polls in 2010.

    • Todd, I think need to learn to read polls. 50 some percent of Americans are in support the health care reform bill with another 10-ish percent thinking in needs to go farther. (I don’t have the exact numbers right off hand…don’t have time to go through back posts.) I’m pretty sure if you do some digging here, you can find them. Most people are sick of the partisan politics that took place.
