As I was browsing the BBC Religion and Ethics site the other day, I stumbled across this radio broadcast from the BBC 4 program Beyond Belief on whether or not the Just-War Tradition is out-dated. You can listen to it at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00knv8q. If Just-War is out dated, what will replace it? Will it be Pacifism or Just-Peacemaking? Or will the Just-War Tradition merge with one of the other two views of war and evolve because of modern forms of warfare? It was an interesting discussion, but I do no think that the Just-War Tradition is out-of-date. It is not a perfect formula, but when used properly, it is a useful tool for a leader when he/she has to make the very difficult decision to go to war.
